Welcome to the City of Live Oak Police Department

Administrative Division

The Chief of Police, Police Captain and the Administrative Assistant, are responsible for the day to day operations of the Police Department. This includes planning, organizing and managing all aspects of the agency.

Patrol Division

Captain Jason Rountree is the commander of the Division. Patrol is the most integral part of the agency, and our success is dependent of the men and women of this division. Patrol is responsible for traffic enforcement, criminal apprehension, and investigation, enforcing city ordinances and State Statutes. This division, in the marked patrol cars, is usually the first line of defense for the safety of the citizens and the community. This Division currently has four sergeants and eight Patrol Officers.

Detective Division

Detective Jason Rountree is the Supervisor of this three officer unit. Detective Rountree is also the Live Oak Police Department evidence custodian. This Division is responsible for follow up investigations, crime scene preservation and evidence collecting, traffic homicide investigations, and Internal Affairs. One of the Detectives is currently assigned to the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force. The Detective division is effective and a much-needed part of the Law Enforcement profession.

Support Services Division

The records division, victim advocate, and the Community Resource Officer are all part of this division which is supervised by the Chief of Police. The records division is responsible for the dissemination of all reports completed by the agency and is responsible for the State Uniform Crime Reports and assists with billing and accounts payable at the Police Department. The Victim Advocate provides assistance to victims of all crimes, including Domestic Violence, Sexual Battery and all other crimes against persons. This includes referrals to shelters, hospitals, and counseling to outside agencies. The Community Resource Officer provides Crime Prevention training to citizens and businesses, develops and facilitates public awareness programs, assists in the coordination of our Citizens Police Academy and many other Public Service Activities.
